Parks
We are so lucky to have so many parks in this beautiful area. Check out the extra special ones at Vic Lucas Park Bulimba, Bulimba Riverside Park with dog off leash area, Hawthorne Park and Colmslie Recreation Reserve and the secret ones! like Fishermen’s Bend Park and Quinn’s Street Park
Library
Apart from my obsession with Book Club at school I used to love visiting the local library. I could smell the knowledge. I remember seeing my first computer in there! and it fascinated me how they catalogued the books. Its still a place for the imagination! with meeting rooms and office facilities and Mum and Bub events make sure you visit.
Dog Parks
The area has two main dog off leash areas. The Bulimba Riverside Park bordering Addison Ave and Love St is near the river and is a lovely walk along the boardwalk plus you can grab a coffee from Bellissimo which os certainly one of the best. Plus we have the Colmslie Beach Reserve, Quinn’s Street Park.
School
I actually went to Bulimba State School! I loved my time there and for over 125 years it still has a reputation of being an outstanding school. Morningside is wonderful too and St Peters and Pauls Catholic Primary. To check which school zone your home is in check out www.qgso.qld.gov.au/maps/edmap/

NOM NOM GELATO
This is Alba’s favourite place too! The wonderful and local Gayatri and her husband own Nom Nom Gelato. All handmade and with fresh ingredients. You will find some classic flavours and some amazing creations (even flavours by locals) so it is a must to check out. Mention Shannon and Alba sent you.

STUDIO PILATES
I have had the unique pleasure of helping Jade and Tanya buy this place. My assistant, Kasey and I were on a mission and we found them a little cutie on Hawthorne Rd and they have transformed it into an iconic property and are very much a fabric of the local community. BALMORAL STATE HIGH
We recommend Balmoral State High School to anyone moving into the area with high-school age kids! Over many decades this great secondary school has provided the education thousands of students have needed to begin their careers or move on to further study. One of the most beautiful things about Bulimba is that we are known as an island with mainly one way in and one way out! This gives us the unique advantage ( never to be seen elsewhere in Brisbane) of 3 citycat stops! Bulimba, Hawthorne and Apollo Rd Citycate! I like to call Bulimba the centre or more endearingly the heart of Brisbane.

TRAIN
Our closest train station is located at Morningside which is a 3km walk from the heart of Oxford Street. The train runs from Cleveland to the City ( transfer lines to get to the airport or Gold Coast at Central Station) and you can plan your journey to be on time anywhere at jp.translink.com.au
BUS
Our local bus is Route 230. It has many stops throughout the suburb and right into the valley. You can plan your bus journey on jp.translink.com.au. you will find the most central stop on Oxford St to the city outside Oxford 152 and the coming home you will get off at Memorial park as the most central location.
WASTE
A lot of the area puts bins out Monday night for collection Tuesday mornings but please double check your specific place. There is a very handy app called Brisbane Bin and recycling that you can also download to check bin days, recycling and gardening days etc too.
Comslie Pool
This place is awesome! A massive training pool plus indoor pool, outside kids pool play area and onsite gym I wish I had discovered this place earlier. The local area also has another pool that is a bit smaller and indoors at Active Life gym.
BRISBANE LIONS
Even the CEO of the Brisbane Lions lives locally so he knows a good thing when he sees it! the local area is a big fan of the club with many locals going to the Gabba for a game. You may even see a player or two in the street as they are big fans of the area. Make sure you catch a game and enjoy a beer at Oxford 152 before or after the game if you would like ot become a true local.
Morning side Football Club
Morningside Panthers is a leading AFL Club in Queensland and offers AFL from Under to Senior in Mens and Womens teams. The club has onsite Sports Bar and Cafe Bistro with plenty of parking and is laso home to My First Gym which is a very popular kids destination for fun physical activity.
BULIMBA COMMUNITY KINDY
I had the privelege of attending Bulimba Childcare and Kindy many moons ago. My prents were first hand in lobbying the government to open one up in the area! I remember searching for hidden pirate treasure in the bush before it was cleared for expansion. So much fun! I have had the extreme honour of selling two of my kindy teachers homes and the teachers there still do such an amazing job. Thank you

Cinema
One of my favourite things as a kid in this area was toddling off to the movies! it took me to another world, not to forget treating myself to a Chomp. We have the Balmoral Cinema, Hawthorne Cinema and newly open Deluxe Cinema at Hawthorne with Food and Beverage Service (18+) that I highly recommend.
