School holidays are looked forward to by kids for the entire school term however for parents and carers, this is not always the case! Whilst it’s nice to spend time with our little ones, finding new and entertaining things to do can be a real challenge. If you want to avoid the dreaded “I’m Bored” and “What are we going to do today?”, here are a few suggestions in and around your local area to help keep the peace these holidays…
Movie Buffs
Whilst screen-time is something we try to limit during the holidays, the Balmoral Cineplex offers a memorable and authentic outing to the movies. Originally built in 1912, the building was initially a single ‘open-air’ cinema that over the years has been transformed into a six-screen cinema complex. Paying homage to its’ heritage, the cinema boasts high, ornate ceilings, red curtains that pull across the screen and an intimate, retro atmosphere.

Swing through the holidays with this unique experience for the adventurous kiddies out there! The first flying trapeze on the south side of Brisbane, Twisted Tricks offers a fun circus-themed activity for ages three and up. An enchanting world of imagination, RiverBend Books is the perfect place for young ones to escape through words in one of the city’s most-loved independent bookshops. Opened in 1988, the store is a treasure-trove of a wide variety of books with an adjoining café offering superb dishes and a leafy, serene outlook.
